| FB Porcupines bound for A&M Wednesday, July 18, 2012 State 7-on-7 starts July 19
It’s a chore, getting a slew of 7-on-7 Porcupines down to the state tournament.
Plus, coaches cannot help out, Springtown ISD Brad Turner said of SHS’ first foray to the big tournament at Texas A&M University July 19-20. However, whatever it takes, Porcupines will hit the Penberthy Intramural Fields with 63 other Class 1A, 2A, and 3A schools for a shot at the skill position players-only state title. Springtown will tangle with Port Isabel at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 19. Those games are followed by clashes against Lorena at 4 then Beckville at 6. The top two teams from the pool advance to the Championship bracket the next morning. The bottom two play in the Consolation bracket.
The Championship round starts at 9 a.m., the Consolation contests one hour earlier. The top pair of finishers in the two brackets play for titles at storied Kyle Field.
