Two late exits cause hiring scramble for AD
Wednesday, July 18, 2012

Mark K. Campbell

A pair of unexpected resignations has sent athletic director Brad Turner on a late-in-the-day search for two more employees.
Springtown’s assistant trainer Jennifer Berkner and a middle school coach both resigned before the July 13 contract acceptance deadline – actually, right at the deadline, Turner said.
That means Turner will begin beating the bushes for two new employees and that’s not an easy feat this deep into summer.

The girls coaching replacement must teach science, a definite hiring pool limiter.
And replacing Berkner is just as tricky.
Turner said he has already investigated the web site SWATA – Southwest Athletic Trainers Association – and has posted on the Region 11 site.
But this late in the year means one of two things, Turner said: “You’re either going to get a new one just finishing their certification or an older one who is returning to work.”
