| Porcupines 3-3 at state 7on-7 Wednesday, July 25, 2012
At Springtown’s first-ever state 7-on-7 football appearance, Springtown went 3-3 including two post-pool victories.
SHS defeated Beckville 40-33 for a win in pool play. Two close losses to Port Isabel (27-19) and Lorena (28-27) put the Porcupines in the Consolation bracket. On Texas A&M’s Penberthy Intramural fields in College Station, Springtown opened bracket play with a 20-13 victory over Ballinger.
Next came another win, 40-34, over Rice; that victory moved the Porcupines into the quarterfinals, the Elite Eight. The tourney ended there, in a 34-22 loss to Princeton, the eventual Division II champs. |
