Lady Porcupine Christian Cassity has earned the ultimate individual basketball award from the Texas Girls Coaches Association – All-State.

The senior, who helped Springtown to a stellar 28-6 record and a trip to the Area round in the playoffs, was certainly deserving, coach Ken Thompson said.

“Not only is she an all-state player but, more importantly, an all-state citizen,” he said. “She had an outstanding senior season.”

For the 2009-10 season, Cassity, the 6-4A Offensive Player of the Year, averaged 13.8 points per game, 5.3 rebounds, 2.6 steals, and 1.5 assists.

A team leader, Cassity scored 18 points in Springtown’s 71-48 victory over Denton Guyer in bi-district.

Thompson added, “I am very proud of Christian. There is not a more deserving young lady.”

The Lady Porcupines Cassity led finished 21st in the TGCA final 4A statewide poll – four places ahead of Stephenville, the team that knocked Springtown out of the playoffs.
