Dorothy Jean Looney, 78, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, June 12, 2012 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
The service was held Friday, June 15 at the First Baptist Church in Springtown. Dorothy was born August 12, 1933 in Springtown to Elmer and Cleo Williams, the only girl with four older brothers. On December 28, 1949, at 16 years of age, she married George Looney who preceded her in death July 2010. During their 61 years of a loving and adventurous life together, Dorothy and George, along with their girls and often times with other friends, traveled extensively in their motor home. The two of them visited every state in the contiguous United States. After retiring as an officer from Azle State Bank, Dorothy opened up Past Tymes Antiques in Springtown and enjoyed buying, selling and trading goods for several years.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Wilburn George Looney; four brothers; and beloved grandson, Jason Paul Martin. Survivors include her three daughters, Helen Katherine Phillips and husband, James, Terry Jean Gilmore and husband, Gary and Tamara Diane Leatherwood and husband, Wayne; granddaughters, Jacey Elizabeth Leatherwood and Kelley Renee Walden and husband, Scott; and three great-grandchildren Chloe, Cameron and Cager. |
