Hermon “Odell” Thompson, 77, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2012.
The service was held Monday, July 9 at White’s Funeral Home. Interment followed in Springtown Cemetery. Odell was born February 11, 1935 in Shay, Oklahoma to Jud and Melba Thompson. He married the love of his life, Joyce Turner in Durant, Oklahoma on May 8, 1954 and moved to Fort Worth working for Hobbs Trailers until retiring after 33 years. After retirement, he was a cattle rancher and loved working his herd of Black Angus cattle. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Texas A.F.A.M. Tarrant No. 942 in Fort Worth. Odell worked hard his entire life and loved life and family, living everyday to the fullest. He was a strong faithful husband, loving father and a true and loyal friend. He was loved, cherished and will be sorely missed by all that knew him. Odell was preceded in death by his parents, Jud and Melba Thompson; son, Herman Ray Thompson; and brothers, J.B. Thompson, Donald Thompson, Leroy Thompson and Lavon Thompson. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Joyce Thompson of Springtown; daughter, Myra Thompson-Hodges and husband, Melton; grandson, Levi Hodges and wife, Carmon King-Hodges; great-grandchildren, Kade, Cameron, Klayton and Layniebeth all of Azle; son, Charlie Thompson and wife, Pam; grandson, Burt; granddaughter, Kathryn Thompson all of Springtown; loving aunts, Jessie and Jett Thompson of Kingston, Oklahoma; sister-in-laws, Juanita Dobson of Weatherford, Helen Benight of Kingston, Oklahoma, Lucille Thompson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Mary Thompson of Kingston, Oklahoma; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Viola Turner of Bevier, Missouri and all of their families; and a host of loving friends and neighbors. |
