Over 8,000 FFA members from all parts of Texas will be meeting at the Fort Worth Convention Center for the Ninety-Third Texas State FFA Convention beginning July 5 and continuing through July 9 . The FFA members attending will be representing the more than 100,000 members of the Texas FFA Association. During convention week business of the Texas FFA will be conducted including participation in several competitive events, recognition of award winners, presentation of scholarships, the election of Texas State FFA Officers for 2021-22 and speeches by well known inspirational speakers. In addition to the participating FFA members there will be over 1700 Texas Agricultural Science Teachers/FFA Advisors also in attendance. Competitions will be held and winners announced & awarded in Agriscience Fair, Texas FFA Rodeo, FFA Creed Speaking, Spanish Creed Speaking, along with several other public speaking contests. Over 200 scholarships amounting to more than $1,800,000 will be presented. The highest degree of FFA membership that can be conferred by a state FFA association, which in the Texas FFA Association is known as the Lone Star FFA Degree will be awarded to 1944 FFA members. Two hundred and fifteen Texas FFA members will be recognized and recommended for the American FFA Degree which is the highest degree that can be conferred on any FFA member. Golden Horizon and National Chapter Rating qualifying chapters will be announced along with 36 Gold Proficiency Award winners. State winners of Leadership Development and Career Development Events will also be recognized. The convention kickoff concert will be Tuesday evening at 8:00 with Country Music star William Clark Green performing. Several Leadership Workshops will be presented along with motivational speaker Amberley Snyder, champion barrel racer who has continued to compete after being paralyzed from the waist down as a result of a car crash. “Fun Night” with the 12 Area winning Talent Teams performing will be Thursday night. Community service projects are also a part of the state convention being in town.
