Graveside services for Larry Clifton Baber, 71, of Paradise, Texas will be 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021 at Annis Chapel Cemetery in Springtown, Texas, officiated by Phil Erickson, Jr.

Larry passed away New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, 2020 in Decatur.

Larry was born Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 1949 in Dallas, Texas to Jacob Clifton Baber and wife Genevieve Lee (Kimes) Baber. Larry was a cowboy through and through, and any other types of employment he held throughout the years were simply to supplement his country lifestyle.

He was a professional bull rider in the ‘70s and rodeoed all around the area. Once he rode the un-rideable bull V-6, the first cowboy to last a full eight seconds. One of his friends at the time was well-known bull rider Donnie Gay. He also worked on the Joe Ernest Quarter Horse Ranch in Smithfield, Texas breaking horses and exercising the show horses.

Larry also served for a short time as mayor of Aledo, Texas, as well as serving in the U.S. Army and the National Guard.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents J.C. and Jenny Baber.

He is survived by daughter Shaye Nicole Baber of Keller, Texas; son Jacob Baber and wife Ashley of Sterling, Virginia; and daughter Katelyn Erickson and husband Phil of Paradise; grandchildren Samantha Baber, Jaxon Erickson, Caleb Erickson, Philip Erickson III, and Everett Baber.
