Racers vie in Burleson’s annual meet

Thursday, September 6, 2018

The 2018 cross country season began at a packed meet in Burleson, the Elk Run.

Coach Drew McDorman said his charges ran at the end of the meet on Aug. 31 when the temperatures were rising.

Christopher Hoselton paced the boys to a sixth place finish. The veteran Porcupine – the lone senior running – finished 23rd out of 156 racers.

Several other SHS boys returned from last year’s regional-qualifying squad.

Dominic Bugarin, Brian Burns, Christian Gaston, and Andrew Jenson all raced in Lubbock last November and placed in Burleson.

Kylee Greenwood, one of three Lady Porcupines at the 2017 Region I meet, led SHS at the Elk Run.

Brittney Brooks and Sarah Power, members of the regional meet as well in ‘17, raced in Burleson, too.

Next up is the Parker County Meet of Champions Sept. 8.
