Shirley Burleson, age 65, a Weatherford, Texas resident, formerly of Daisy, Oklahoma, was born on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 1952, to Emmett and Emma Mae (Newkirk) Burleson, at Talihina, Oklahoma.

Shirley passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018 at Ft. Worth, Texas.

Services were held Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018 at Mc-Gee Valley Baptist Church, Daisy, Oklahoma under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service, Atoka, Oklahoma. Phil Tallman officiated. Interment was at Mt. Home Cemetery, Daisy, Oklahoma. Casketbearers were Gerry Burleson, Tony Burleson, Terry Burleson, Allen Burleson, Jimmy Dale Burleson, and Jerrell Rutherford. Honorary Casket bearers were great nieces and nephews.

Shirley graduated from Springtown High School in 1971. Shirley was an office manager in the medical field. She retired in March 2014. She attended Victory Baptist Church in Weatherford. Shirley enjoyed reading, playing word games on her tablet and cooking.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Emma Mae (Newkirk) Burleson; brothers, Donald, Lonnie, Harvey; sis ter, Sue Burleson Culwell; beloved nephew, James “Jimmy” Warden.

Shirley is survived by her sisters, Mary Cockburn and husband Mutt of Poolville; Joyce Anderson of Weatherford; Brenda Porter and husband Larry of Weatherford; sisters-in-law, Ellen Clay and Edna Burleson; very dear friends, Donna Hunnicutt and Debra Jones; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and loved friends.
