Wild West Fest here next weekend

Thursday, September 6, 2018

The annual parade down Main Street is just one of many crowd pleasers at the annual WWF. This year’s event arrives Saturday, Sept. 15.

Springtown’s biggest festival will arrive next weekend.

The 34th Annual Wild West Fest takes over the Springtown Square Saturday, Sept. 15.

The event’s activities get underway the night before with a cornhole tournament.

Entry for teams will cost $40 and will be accepted until 7:30 p.m.

The contest begins at 8 p.m. Sept. 14 and will be held behind Brookshire’s – which is also the site of the 19th Annual Wild West Fest BBQ Cook-Off.

Things truly get underway the morning of the fest with the annual parade which begins at 10 and follows a route along Hwy. 199 and north on FM 51 through the Square.

The chamber expects to have more than 200 vendors, and they’ll open an hour before the parade starts.

Following the parade, activity returns to the Square.

Various entertainment acts will take place throughout the day at the Tabernacle – including the perennial favorite gunfighters.

Across Main Street, at Optimist Park, the bull riding event – which made its debut at the festival last year – is returning with three shows at noon, 3 p.m., and 6.

Mutton bustin’ is also back.

Registration will take place from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. it will begin at 3 – also at Optimist Park.
